2016 Website Designs - Overview

We have now integrated the new web designs into SiteManager and you can view the model answers for each page @ http://svr-lucretia.net.marjon.ac.uk/webdev/2016-content/model-pages/

You can view the new website via http://beta/  (internal to University only). You can also preview any page from within SiteManager by choosing to preview in the 'Marjon 2016' channel.

A brief summary of the work that has taken place:
·         1 new channel (Marjon 2016)
·         9 Page Layouts
·         25 content types
·         New formatters for existing content types where requested
·         http://beta/webdev/2016-content/ is a page that shows how all of the content types can be added to any page and work
·         The Events Calendar has been designed to work with the new designs
·         Google Analytics code has been added (for all pages and any events)
·         All page elements are built so that they can be updated as content by Marketing (inc footer links and the staff and student menu  which are in a'2016 Style Assets' section)
·         The Main Navigation uses the 'Show in Navigation' functionality of SiteManager and is thus automated based upon the current website structure. To hide from navigation you just need to untick 'Show in Navigation' on the section. The top level navigation is currently set to work from the following sections:

  1. Home = Home
  2. Study = Home>Courses
  3. Student Life = Home>Student Life
  4. Our University = Home>About Marjon
  5. Contact = currently set to a model 'Contact Us' Page

The University will soon be upgrading from version 7 to version 8 of TerminalFour SiteManager.  Below is a first look at the enhanced user interface.  There are a number of added features and enhancements including Google Analytics measurement -y ou can use analytics to collect data about traffic to your pages, conversation rate, types of visitors, bounce rate and many other things. This allows you to measure and analyse the impact of your web data so you can improve the effectiveness of your pages. I will provide updates on when we will be upgrading SiteManager and provide a schedule of training which will specifically look at the changes between V7 and V8 on the staff news pages.  If you would like to know more information on SiteManager 8 and the upgrade then feel free to email me.
